Sustaining Engineer


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least four years of LED lighting experience working in a manufacturing setting
  • At least two years of new product design experience using CAD software
  • Excels using CAD software (Inventor preferred, Solidworks, or Pro‐e)
  • A firm understanding of manufacturing methods used in the development of Luminaires (Sheetmetal, castings, extrusions, injection molding)
  • Ability to create manufacturing drawings per ASME Y14.5.
  • Outstanding oral, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience working with machine shop equipment a plus
  • Understanding of UL safety Standards helpful

  • Spearheads product literature updates for product upgrades / changes.
  • Accurately creates BOMs for standard product and product releases.
  • Updates existing bill of materials, when changes are necessary.
  • Participation in the implementation of new products
  • Interacts with manufacturing to resolve part or assembly issues, deviation requests, and bill of material errors.
  • Provides technical support to purchasing department
  • Communicates efficiently with domestic and overseas component suppliers
  • Provide product knowledge support to internal customers, including Marketing, Product Support, Technical Support and Post Sales.
  • Present ideas and suggestions to help improve efficiency and reduce waste
  • Assists with administrating the CAD data management software (Autodesk Vault). Vault helps organize, manage, and track engineering data creation, and documentation processes.
  • Assists with quarterly UL/ETL product safety audits
  • Manages the companies Driver portfolio
    • Manages & Tracks the lifecycle of all inventoried drivers
      • Phase‐out / replacement coordination with purchasing
      • Provides Purchasing Dept. with strategies to optimize driver inventory
  • Engineering liaison to RMA department
    • Oversees and documents defective product returns requiring engineering attention

Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a mid to high level mechanical engineer with experience in product development. The candidate will be responsible for working on new product designs, developing innovated LED based lighting fixtures, and ensuring their successful launch to market.

The Ledra Brands engineering department consists of a small team of highly motivated engineers who have a passion for innovation, and most recently worked together to achieve the prestigious Light Fair 2018 “most innovative product of the year” award.


  • Prior Lighting Industry product development experience required
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, strong aptitude for learning new skills, and resourceful problem solver.
  • Working knowledge of LED product design including understanding of electrical parameters and thermal behaviors.
  • Proficient with Inventor, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software.
  • Knowledgeable in machined parts, sheet metal, plastic injection molding, and aluminum castings.
  • Has a drive for success and enjoys a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or another technical related field


  • Works under the guidance of Engineering management to develop and manufacture new products, ensuring a successful production hand-off and product launch.
  • Works in a team environment with other engineers of various disciplines, and with other departments including marketing, purchasing, sales, production.
  • Interfaces with suppliers to evaluate sources, resolve technical issues, and improve cost and quality of designs.
  • Executes and delivers production-ready 3D CAD files and Bills of Materials, including components material specifications, tolerances, and finishes.
  • Assists in the development of project delivery schedules
